I kinda’ wanted to do one for a while now. Ideas for this are flooding my head. Here’s how it’ll go.

Day 30: Another series you enjoy
Ha, funny you should say the word “another”, because an anime series that I’m currently watching that came out a couple months ago and is currently running is named, “Another”. It’s a mystery anime with some gore (but hell, I handled Higurashi, I don’t mind this). It’s pretty confusing right now, but I’ll keep watching it because it’s just now starting to get clearer. If you like Higurashi, give Another a chance!

Keiichi Maebara. We both are school smart, both our moms love mystery stuff, we both joined a memorable group a friends, and we both almost blinded a small child. Wait, what. (Sarcasm at its best)

Day 25: A place in the series that you’d like to visit
The Furude Shrine. I thought saying Hinamizawa itself, but that would just be dull because the whole series is in it. But, I would take SO many pictures over at the Furude Shrine. And one of them would be me laying where Rika was when she was gutted with two thumbs up, then post it as my facebook profile picture. NO REGRETS.
Day 26: Do you have an OC (original character) that goes with this series? If so, describe/post a picture. If not, why?
No. I simply couldn’t add another character into the series. That would be too hard, plus I think it would ruin it for me. I like all the characters as they are. I mean come on, think of how hard it would be to make a character to tie in with EVERYTHING.
Day 24: If your were going to recommend this series to someone, what aspect of the series would you emphasize?
The story. Believe me I’ve tried a couple of times to get my friends into Higurashi. Some did, some didn’t. The main thing I emphasized was the plot and how the story was told. You are literally left with little to no knowledge of what is going on after the first arc, and questions just keep getting answered, while raising new ones at the same pace. Leaves you guessing and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Day 23: You have to marry a character from this series. Who is it?
Rena Ryuugu. Again, I’m not exactly a dude to ship characters…especially with myself. But, I just like Rena’s personality and how as odd as she can be at times, she doesn’t let things in her life bother her, and cherishes her days as they go by. That’s someone I would want to be with.
Day 22: Least favorite thing about the series
The OVAs. Fuck em’. Seriously, other than episodes 2,3, 4 of Rei, and the 4th OVA of Kira, fuck them all. I didn’t watch Higurashi to see some moe shit with Rika rubbing her ass on a window, Keiichi presenting his genatalia to the whole gang, and Takano to be able to play the flute with her boobs. I came to see the ground breaking story that I love, not…what ever that image is up there…
Day 21: Favorite thing in the series (whether its in the series itself or within the fandom)
I love how Higurashi set up its mystery. How every arc starts off fine but turns into a downward spiral each time, and while answering the basic questions as to what happened, leaves you wondering about why this is all happening. Slowly (but surely) each arc answers more and more questions while still raising the same amount. In other words, it keeps you guessing with theories and possibilities. That way, when you are done watching the series, you can look back at what had happened and say things like, “Wow, Hanyuu was the cause of the footsteps and was there the whole time!” or “I knew Rika had something to do with this story! She was way too quiet!”. Most people give up on Higurashi because of this, and they have no idea if this story is just a bunch of kids killing each other or if there’s something more to this and just complain a lot because they don’t know if they should keep watching this series or not. So to those people I say, “Tell me why or why not. Complaining way to much. Maybe I overlooked something fatal, for me.”
Day 20: Favorite song from the series

Main Theme
Most people would say their favorite song is Dear You because of all the different versions of it. I love the song too, but I feel that the main theme is so much more fitting into Higurashi. It gives off the sense of the mystery, eerie, and creepy vibes Higurashi has.
Day 18: An episode/scene that makes you sad
The end of Minagoroshi-hen. In Minagoroshi-hen, Rika was so close to putting an end to fate. She rounded up the whole club and told them the truth. She finally exposed herself and what she knew about Hinamizawa that the others didn’t, but in the end she suffered an even worse fate this time. Getting gutted like a fish, yes, but also she saw all of her friends die with her one by one. But the thing that makes my jaw drop is that when everyone is dead, they still promise to try harder in the next world. Now I don’t care what anybody says, but that deserves a manly tear.
Day 19: An episode/scene that makes you happy/laugh
I loved that scene where everyone knew the which cards were which by telling the scratches they had. I was lol’ing at Keiichi when he was like, “HOW THE HELL DO YOU KNOW MY CARDS?!”
Day 16: Most memorable character (not necessarily your favorite)
Rika Furude. If I were to look back at this series when I’m much older, the first character I would remember is Rika. The fact that she’s this 10 year old girl with the mentality of being 100 years old and had gone through so much horrifying times really threw me off when I found out about her for the first time.
Day 17: Least memorable character
Chie Rumiko. I honestly wouldn’t remember her. Seriously, all I remember her as now is her obsession with curry. Also that fact that her hair looks just like Rena’s but blue.
Day 15: Something you would change in the series
I have two things I would change. The first one is more “fear” in Higurashi. I feel the sound novel did an awesome job at that, but the anime did not. When people think of the word “scary”, they think of heaps amount of blood or gore. I think of someone actually being scared/horrified. I would have loved to see the characters develop more paranoia in the series (I’m cruel, I know)
The second is Hanyuu’s character. I honestly don’t like the over amount of “cuteness” in Hanyuu. I honestly can’t believe she’s the real Oyashiro when she’s going lovey dovey about creampuffs or something. Yes, she is shy, but I would have loved to see a bit more serious side of Hanyuu. I want to see Oyashiro-sama in her eyes, not a simple little girl. I mean come on, when Hanyuu and Takano had their moments, you have to admit, she was pretty badass!
